A TRLFS Study on the Complexation of CmIIIand EuIIIwith 2,6Bis5,6dipropyl1,2,4triazin3ylpyridine in WaterMethanol Mixture

Abstrakt: The complexation of CmIIIand EuIIIwith 2,6bis5,6dipropyl1,2,4triazin3ylpyridine nPrBTP in watermethanol solution is studied. 1:3 complexes [MnPrBTP3]3+form from the solvated metal ions upon addition of ligand. The conditional stability constants are log KCmIII= 14.4 and log KEuIII= 11.9. For both metal ions the complexation reaction is both enthalpy and entropy driven. ΔHCmIIIis 10.1 kJmol more negative than ΔHEuIII, whereas the entropy difference is small. The difference in ΔGbetween the formation of the CmIIIand EuIIIcomplexes is in good agreement with nPrBTPs selectivity in liquidliquid extraction.
