Summary: AIDS-prevention: the effectiveness of theatre for and by asylum seekers In the current explorative field research, the effect of an HIV/AIDSprevention project for asylum seekers in the North of the Netherlands was evaluated. The intervention was presented in the form of a theatre play in an African setting, devised and performed by asylum seekers. Knowledge, attitude, social norms, self-efficacy and the intention towards AIDS-preventive behaviour appeared to change in the group that had received the intervention. The results suggest that the theatre play may fulfil a positive role in AIDS-prevention among asylum seekers. |
