Absolute spectral distributions were measured of the radiant output from pulsed and dc linear arc discharge lamps containing the alkali metal vapors cesium, rubidium, potassium, and sodium and the noble gases xenon and krypton. Spectral distributions from 0.40 to 1.3 μm are shown which illustrate the influence of discharge material type, material pressure, and arc current density. Alkali metal vapor pressures were varied over a range from 100 to 800 Torr and arc current densities from 6 to 1900 A/cm^2. |
