The roles played by a holeblocking layer, TiO2or BCP are investigated for heterojunction photovoltaic devices based on CuPc and the fullerene derivative PCBM. The insertion of TiO2or BCP thin films in the CuPc:PCBM based solar cells resulted in a higher open circuit voltage VOC and a higher fill factor which is due to the increase in the shunt resistance as well as to the improved collection of the electrons at the aluminum Al cathode. The energy conversion efficiency of the device having TiO2holeblocking layer is two times greater than that having BCP. |
