Intraperitoneai injections of N-nitrosomethylurethane induced multiple adenomas in the lung periphery of Fisher rats. Electron microscopy revealed the ultrastructural characteristics of alveolar type II cells in the tumors. The presence of two different types of lamellar bodies suggests altered pathways of surfactant synthesis in the neoplasms. |
