Conductance investigations have been done at 25 °C on tetramethylurea solutions containing NaI, KI, RbI, CsI, NH4I, LiBr, NaBr, NH4Br, or LiCl in the concentration range 2.0 × 10−4–3.6 × 10−3 M. The conductance data have been analyzed using the full equations of Pitts, Fuoss, and Lee–Wheaton for the conductivity of free ions. The best-fit values of Λ0are consistent with strong cation solvation and weak anion solvation by tetramethylurea. The KAvalues indicate that these salts are associated electrolytes in this solvent. |
