Suppressed Particle Formation by Kinetically Controlled Ozone Removal: Revealing the Role of TransientSpecies Chemistry during Alkene OzonolysisWe thank Prof. Urs Baltensperger for the inspiring discussion. The continuous support of Prof. Karlheinz Hoyermann is gratefully acknowledged, especially his advice about the chemistry of alkoxy radicals. We thank the DFG GRK 782 and the FCI for financial support.

Abstrakt: The new approachof kinetically controlled ozone removal suppresses particle formation in laboratory ozonolysis experiments for methylcyclohexene and methylenecyclohexane MCHa at excess alkene concentrations see graph. The results support the hypothesis that peroxy radicals are involved in organic nucleation and particlegrowth mechanisms.
