Abstrakt: The design of fixed or floating dock systems for pleasure craft harbors is usually controlled by strong winds blowing against the structure and berthed vessels. Determination of these wind loads requires an estimate of vessel profile heights. Present design guidelines are compared with measured profile of ten classes of modern pleasure craft. The results show that these guidelines can underpredict vessel profile heights by as much as 50% for certain larger profile vessels.
