SummaryA fluorescence assay for indapamide which is both sensitive and capable of handling large numbers of samples has been developed. Reaction of indapamide with NaOH at 100°C has been shown to yield a fluorescent product, which has excitation and emission wavelengths of 284 nm and 356 nm, respectively. The assay is sensitive to levels of indapamide of 0.025 μg/ml in aqueous solutions, and a linear calibration curve between 0.025 μg/ml and 2 μg/ml is observed. The adaptability of this assay to urinary samples of the drug has been demonstrated by the development of a selective extraction procedure. Using this procedure, there was no interference in the assay from endogenous urinary compounds. |
