Abstrakt: Environmentalists are concerned about several problems of Third World pest management. Human intoxications, poisoning of wildlife and residues result from indiscriminant use of pesticides. Use of Green Revolution technologies have exacerbated social inequities, led to increase reliance on monocultures, destroyed genetic resources and led to environmental degradation. A conceptual turnaround is required. Necessary components of a sustainable agriculture are discussed.
