Myocardial involvement in sarcoidosis can be diagnosed noninvasively by a combination of radionuclide studies. Myocardial 67Ga uptake in this case study was demonstrable only with SPECT. This emphasizes the fact that SPECT enhances the diagnostic value of most scintigraphic procedures as a result of better contrast and three-dimensional orientation. It is inferred from this case that negative planar 67Ga scintigraphy is inconclusive with regard to myocardial involvement of sarcoidosis. |
