Abstrakt: Freebase- and metallated-tetrapyridylporphyrins self-organize through multiple hydrogen bonding to carboxylic acid terminated self-assembled monolayers on gold surfaces, thereby producing surfaces with two additional functional sites, the porphyrin cavity and the terminal pyridyl groups.
