Abstrakt: Extensive use is made of ion-exchange techniques in the uranium industry. Sorption from acid and carbonate solutions and pulps is used in the treatment of uranium ores and the production of pure compounds of uranium. This article deals with the basic regularities of these processes. It gives the characteristics of various types of ion-exchange materials, which can be used for the selective absorption of uranium, and it also deals with a number of accompanying elements. The article also describes the various types of apparatus used in the sorption of uranium from pulp, making it possible to process all pulps containing up to 40% solid material. Further improvement in sorption techniques is connected with the use of ion-exchange materials having high kinetic characteristics and high selectivity with regard to uranium.
