An air-core magnet is described, which is used to inject positron and electron beams into the storage track. The magnet consists of a plane curved coax fed by a special current pulse with duration ~ 100 µsec and amplitude greater than 200kA. Pulse-to-pulse stability is better than 0.1%. The outer wall, separating the working-field region of the magnet from the storage cavity is 2 mm thick and the external field amplitude is 0.1% of the field in the cavity. In addition, this paper gives theoretical and experimental results for the external field and experimental data on its effect on the stacking process. |
