Abstrakt: Summary Alkaline saponification of the genuine sample in the presence of cyclohexane, nitrogen gas and sodium ascorbate as protective agents is followed by extraction with pstroleam ether. An aliquot of the extract free from alkali and purified with 80% sulfuric acid is subdued to TLC, the isolated a-tocopherol being determined according to Emmerie-Engel, stabilized by ortho-phosphoric acid. Evaluation is carried out by internal standard.ß- and?-tocopherol may be estimated equally.
