Summary A method is described to determine the residues of maleinhydracid (10–500 ppm) in tobacco in a simple and sufficiently accurate manner. It is based on alkaline hydrolysis, quick steam-destillation by means of zinc as reduction agent and nitrogen as innert gas. The distilled hydracin is changed in a yellow coloured substance by p-Dimethyl-aminobenzaldehyd and determined spectrophotometrically. |
