Abstrakt: The effect of liquid lubricants on antifriction properties of self-lubricating iron-base composite materials was studied. Crude oil products of the petrolatum type were found to have higher load-carrying capacities and permissible working temperatures than highly refined products. Test results are reported relating to the effect of active lubricant additives on the running-in and wear-resistance characteristics of the materials studied and to the rate of wear of these materials under dry friction conditions. The anti-friction characteristics and fatigue strength of iron-base composite materials in vacuum and in gas atmospheres were studied.
