1.2-Hydroxymethylbicyclo[2.2.1]2,5-heptadiene effects protolysis of only one of the Al-C bonds in organoaluminum compounds. The composition and structures of the protolysis products have been established based on1H- and13C-NMR data, UV spectroscopy, and cryoscopic and volumetric analysis, which have also provided evidence for the formation of intramolecular complexes.2.Reaction of 2-hydroxymethylbicyclo[2.2.1]2,5-heptadiene with organoaluminum compounds does not change the electronic state of the double bond at C5. The reaction product is of interest as a monomer containing a protected polar functional group. |
