1.Vinyl halides with a bulky substituent at the ß-carbon atom react with metallic lithium to give acetylenides.2.The undesired formation of acetylenides in the reaction of vinyl halides RCH=CHX (where R=CH3 or C2H5) with lithium may be blocked by the simultaneous addition of the vinyl halide and carbonyl component to lithium. |
