Abstrakt: 1.The classification of trichlorogermane as a superacid was proposed and supported.2.The reaction of 9-methylanthracene (MA) and anthracene with trichlorogermane leads to 9-trichlorogermyl-9-methyl-9,10-dihydroanthracene and 9-trichlorogermyl-9,10-dihydro-anthracene, respectively. The regioselectivity of the addition of trichlorogermane to 9-methylanthracene and the detection of the [MA]+· radical-cation indicate the intermediate formation of the 9-methylanthracenonium ion in this reaction.3.A chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization effect was found in the reaction of 9-methylanthracene with trichlorogermane, indicating the existence of hidden radical steps in this reaction.
