When an indoline spiropyran (SPP) with electron-donor substituents in the chromene part of the molecule is introduced into a polymer matrix, in particular into copolymers of methyl methacrylate with oxyethyl methacrylate, there is a decrease in the rate of reaction of dark decolorization of the photoinduced form of the SPP, owing to interaction of the proton-donor units of the oxyethyl methacrylate and the oxygen of the chromene heterocycle of the photoinduced form of the SPP molecule, leading to the formation of an intermolecular hydrogen bond. |
