1.A study has been made of the effect of radiation on the decomposition of isopropanol adsorbed on yttrium and neodymium oxides. The introduction of radioactive isotopes into these oxides reduces the rate of breakdown of the alcohol and alters, the selectivity of the catalyst. Such treatment makes the catalyst more selective toward the dehydrogenation reaction. The magnitude of this effect is dependent on the specific radioactivity of the catalyst.2.The reduction in the rate of isopropanol decomposition is related to the formation of a static charge on the surface of the radioactive catalyst. |
