Abstrakt: Conclusions 1.Upon adsorption of formic acid on?-Al2O3, besides the formation of formate ions, chemisorption of HCOOH to Lewis-acid centers associated with the protonation of the hydroxyl of the carboxylic group also occurs.2.Treatment of the surface of reduced inserted copper with water vapor or a mixture of CO and H2O leads to a change in the state of the formate formed by the chemisorption of HCOOH.3.Under identical treatment conditions of the reduced copper surface with a mixture of CO and H2O, the compounds formed during adsorption of this mixture or HCOOH have similar structures and are represented as surface formate ions.
