Abstrakt: 1.The rate of exchange between trimethyltin chloride and thiophenolate in THF and pyridine solutions increases with an increase in the solvating action of the solvent.2.The data on the high-temperature exchange in THF solution departs from the linear In (1/?) vs 103/T relation.3.Addition of small quantities of pyridine to the toluene solution increases the rate of exchange, the increase being directly proportional to the pyridine concentration.4.This is the first reported instance of an organometallic exchange reaction in which passage from an inert solvent to a coordinating solvent can either increase or reduce the reaction rate, depending on the temperature.
