1.Study has been made of the kinetics of the intramolecular breakdown of five N-substituted phthalamic acids, and quantum-chemical calculations carried out on their respective molecules, working through the semi-empirical PPP method.2.A mechanism of the intramolecular rupture of the o-carboxyamide bond has been proposed on the basis of our kinetic data and the results of the quantum-chemical calculations. |
