1.The initial hydrogenation rate of the p- and m-phenylenediamines on ruthenium and rhodium catalysts is independent of the concentration of the substrate and increases linearly with increase in the hydrogen pressure in the range 20–80 atm.2.The highest yield is obtained when the hydrogenation reaction is run on Ru-Al2O3 in ethanol (88% of 1,4-diaminocyclohexane and 91% of 1,3-diaminocyclohexane).3.When the hydrogenation is run in ethanol the relative amount of the cis- and trans-isomers of the diaminocyclohexane in the catalyzate is independent of the temperature (100–160°) and the pressure (20–100 atm). |
