Abstrakt: 1.Metallic mercury when reacted with C5H5Fe(CO)2Cl in the presence of UV light inserts itself at the Fe-Hal bond, while in the case of C5H5Fe(CO)2I the same reaction also goes without irradiation, with the formation of C5H5Fe(CO)2HgHal. [C5H5Fe(CO)2]2 reacts with metallic mercury only in the presence of Hg2I2.2.C5H5Fe(CO)2I reacts with organic mercury compounds R2Hg (R=p-ClC6H4 anda-C4H3S) to give C5H5Fe(CO)2R. (CH2CHO)2Hg, (C6H5C=C)2Hg, and (CH2=CH-CH2)2Hg react with C5H5Fe(CO)2I in the same manner as free mercury.3.When irradiated,p-C5H5Fe(CO)2CH3-s reacts with metallic mercury only in the presence of Hg2I2.
