Abstrakt: 1.An investigation was made of the stability of polybenzimidazoles prepared from 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetramine and diphenyl sebacate toward the action of acids and alkalies, and it was shown that the polymers are stable in the cold to the action of both acid and alkaline reagents.2.At high temperatures the polymers undergo hydrolysis, acidolysis, and aminolysis.3.A hypothesis is advanced in explanation of the high stability of the polymers obtained to the action of degrading agencies, as compared with the usual polyamides.
