Summary Cirrhosis of the liver, accompanied by ascites, was induced in rabbits by subcutaneous administration of carbon tetrachloride, and one-half of the liver was subsequently removed. A marked reduction in the amount of connective tissue, with the structure of the liver approaching normal, was observed during regeneration of the cirrhotic liver. The weight of the liver was restored to normal. |
