Summary Static pressure and elastance of the anal canal were investigated before and after treatment of hemorrhoids. Beside submucous sclerotherapy and hemorrhoid ectomy, a maximal anal dilatation was performed. With this dilatation treatment, second-degree hemorrhoids with a significant increase of anal elastance could be removed in a high percentage of cases (88%). Although the anal pressure and elastance were considerably lowered in the following months, no important complications appeared. |
