Abstrakt: |
The elastic scattering of 140-MeV16O and 175- and 252-MeV20Ne from235U has been measured. Experimental ratios of elastic to Rutherford scattering cross sections are analyzed in terms of both Fresnel scattering and optical models. The radius parameters derived from these analyses are found to be nearly independent of projectile energy. Total reaction cross sections are obtained and found to be in good agreement with the total fission cross section for these systems. Comparisons between the Fresnel theory and the optical model give generally good agreement. A simple formula which parameterizes the total reaction cross section in terms of the interaction radius is presented for16O and20Ne reactions.Nuclear Reactions:235U(16O,16O),E=140 MeV;235U(20Ne,20Ne),E=175 MeV, 252 MeV; measuredsel; compared with Fresnel and optical models; deduced maximum angular momenta, interaction radii, total reaction cross section. |
