The analysis carried out shows the possibility of a frequency shift of light with the aid of single band modulators employing longitudinal and transverse electrooptical effects in crystals and permits the making of suitable recommendations in the selection of the amplitudes and phases of the modulating voltages applied to the electrooptical crystals. The resultant expressions and graphs are well confirmed by experimental investigations and permit normalization of the allowable deviations of the parameters (of amplitudes and phases) of modulating voltages and the additional phase shift induced by two-beam refracting phase plates, proceeding from allowable values of amplitudes and phases of parasitic components in the output signal of single-band modulators, which is extremely important in the development of doppler heterodyne systems for the measurements of the parameters of mechanical vibrations. |
