A system for measuring the length of high-precision line gauges in motion has been developed for the State Primary Standard of Length. The system incorporates a nonscanning electron photoelectric microscope with a high signal/noise ratio, a device to identify a line on the surface of the moving gauge, and a data acquisition and processing system. The block diagram of the system is presented. An analysis of some results obtained by studying the system indicates that it can be used for high-precision measurements of the length of line gauges. |
