Abstrakt: A survey of nickel, platinum and palladium catalysts prepared on silicas, aluminas and mo-lecular sieves indicated that the nature of such supports contributed importantly to selective hydrogenation of soybean oil. Nickel-molecular sieve catalysts provided both high hydrogenation selectivity and lowtrans-isomer formation. Some kind of spatial hindrance may be postulated in explanation of the results.
