Epoxidation of unsaturated alcohols of the decahydroquinoline series

Abstrakt: The epoxy derivatives of stereoisomeric 1-alkyl-, 1,2-dimethyl-, and 1,2,2-trimethyl-4-vinyl-trans-decahydroquinolols were synthesized by oxidation with performic acid in formic acid solution. The compounds were characterized by their PMR and mass spectra. An analysis of the spectral data made it possible to conclude that the synthesized compounds and the starting vinyl alcohols have the same configurations.
