Dissociative ionization of 3,5-dimethyl-4-haloisoxazoles

Abstrakt: The mass spectra of 3,5-dimethyl-4-haloisoxazoles at ionizing electron energies of 15 to 50 eV were investigated. An increase was noted in the effect of the electron-donor properties of the halogen on the stability of the molecular ion with increasing ionizing electron energy. A probable mechanism for the cleavage of the carbon-halogen bond that explains the anomalously high intensities of the (M-I)+ ion peak is proposed.
