Effects of melting on the magnetic parameters of Mg-Cd alloys

Abstrakt: Temperature and concentration relationships are presented for the magnetic susceptibility for Mg-Cd alloys in the range 300–580‡C, and conclusions are drawn about the electronic structure of these alloys near the liquidus and solidus lines. This study is an extension of one on Mg-Cd alloys [1–3] and deals with the effects of melting on the electronic structure when the magnetic susceptibility is used. The temperature-dependence on the susceptibility enables one to define closely the phase boundaries in the phase diagram in the solidus and liquidus regions. Considerable interest attaches also to the concentration dependence above the melting point as regards the scope for using ideas employed in the analysis of the properties of disordered solid solutions in this system.
