1.The formation of cervantite in the temperature range examined is limited by nucleation; the crystallographic similarity of cervantite and valentinite means that the oxidation of the latter begins with the formation of an epitaxial film of cervantite on the valentinite.2.This epitaxial layer acts as an efficient nucleus on which material is deposited: from the valentinite by bulk diffusion and from the senarmontite via the gas phase and by surface diffusion. |
