Aryloxydihydropyrans

Abstrakt: The action of chlorine and bromine on 2-aryloxy-3,4-dihydropyrans has been studied; a series of 6-aryloxy-2, 3-dihalogenotetrahydropyrans has been obtained. The stability of the compounds synthesized rises with the introduction of electron-accepting substituents into the benzene ring. On being heated in the presence of alkalis, they split off a molecule of hydrogen halide and open the tetrahydropyran ring.
