Abstrakt: Haloperidol is rapidly absorbed by normal subjects following intramuscular administration, maximum plasma level being reached within 20 min. The plasma level profile of haloperidol shows multi-compartment model kinetics with a terminal elimination half-life of 20.7±4.6 (SD) h. The prolonged elimination half-life for haloperidol suggests that a delay of approximately three to five days will occur before equilibrium plasma levels are re-established following a change in dosage regimen.
