1.The magnitude and variation of the residual stresses in an electrolytic deposit of iron induced by burnishing depend on the conditions and type of deformation, and the properties of the base metal and the deposit.2.After strain hardening of an electrolytic deposit of iron by burnishing the tensile stresses decrease to 10–20 kg/mm2 if the deposit alone is hardened, or compressive stresses (around 30 kg/mm2) are induced with hardening of both the deposit and the base metal. |
