Abstrakt: 1.The investigation showed that Fe-W-Co alloys are promising for cutting tools. With proper melting conditions and modifying elements these alloys can attain a high red hardness and fairly high strength, providing higher cutting rates (almost double that of R18K10) in turning the heat-resisting alloy KhN77TYuR.2.On the basis of this investigation we recommend cast alloys of the following composition, which should be investigated in detail and tested commercially: a) 0.06–0.15% C, 30–33% Co, 18–20% W, 0.5–0.55% V, 0.15–0.2% Ti; b) 0.09–0.15% C, 23–30% Co, 26–28.5% W, 0.45–0.55% V, 0.15–0.2% Ti.
