Bilateral ablation of the tuberculum olfactorium markedly reduced stereotyped behaviour following apomorphine treatment in the rat. Bilateral dissection of the olfactory bulb or large bilateral lesions in the nucleus caudatus putamen did not significantly affect the stereotyped behaviour. It is concluded that an intact tuberculum olfactorium is essential for the induction of stereotyped behaviour by apomorphine. |
