By changing the spraying angle it is possible to regulate the open porosity and density of plasma-sprayed coatings within the ranges 13–25% and 2.65–3.1 g/cm3, respectively. At spraying angles of 40–45° a marked increase (by about 40%) is observed in the adhesion of a coating to its basis. In the spraying angle range 60–90° the properties and thickness of spray-deposited coatings do not change significantly. On the basis of experimentally obtained curves of properties of coatings vs spraying angle it is possible to lay down certain technical requirements for automated plasma-deposition installations. |
