Mechanical properties of zirconium carbide-cobalt materials

Abstrakt: The mechanical properties of the ZrC-Co material (tensile and bend strengths, microhardness, modulus of elasticity) increase symbatically to the diameter of the fiber formed and to a lesser degree to thel/d ratio and to the quantity of fibers. The highest indices of mechanical strength of the ZrC-Co base material arest = 2.0 ± 0.4 GPa andsbend= 2.6 ± 0.5 GPa with a fiber diameter of 0.15 µm, ratio ofl/d = 73, and a quantity of fibers of 20.2·104 per mm2.
