1.A CM of any composition may fracture by one of three possible mechanisms depending on the degree of interaction of its components attained during manufacture.2.The mechanical behavior of a CM is determined by the combination of values of three characteristic parameters: retained strength of the fibers, strength of the bond between the components of the CM, and retained ductility of the matrix.3.By using the characteristic parameters proposed, it is possible to correlate various aspects of a study of CMs, obtain a comparative assessment of the compatibility of the components of various CMs, and determine the condition they attain during manufacture. |
