Abstrakt: 1.Experiments carried out on molybdenum have shown that monolithic materials of varying degrees of strengthening can be produced by subjecting powders of refractory metals to laser irradiation or to the action of SWs.2.Materials produced by SW compression exhibit a pronounced heterogeneity of structure and properties, which is linked with the existence of steep pressure and temperature gradients within capsules in a cylindrical loading scheme.3.An examination is made of the physical mechanisms responsible for the phenomena observed, and some characteristic features of the fine structure of shock-loaded materials are noted.
