Abstrakt: 1.At any given chemical composition and particle size analysis the pressing qualities of iron powder and mixtures based on it improve with increase in its apparent density.2.With increase in particle size the relative compactibility of a powder diminishes.3.Single pressing under a pressure of 8 tons/cm2 enables compacts of 7.5–9% porosity to be obtained from fine or coarse iron powder of high apparent density (3.3–3.4 g/cm3) and also from iron-graphite and iron-copper-graphite mixtures based on such powders.
