1.Heat-treatment (annealing, quenching, tempering) conditions have been established for all compositions of sintered titanium carbide base materials with an alloy steel binder.2.The presence of a certain quantity (65–70 wt.%) of steel binder enables the hardness to be lowered after annealing to 38–42 HRC, as a result of which the materials can be subjected to any form of machining. Subsequent quenching raises the hardness of the materials to 66–72 HRC.3.Parts made of these materials were found to exhibit no warping, distortion, or dimensional changes in the course of quenching and subsequent tempering. |
