| Abstrakt: | A synthesis of stebisimine, (±)-obaberine, and (±)-isotetrandrine has been performed by the cyclocondensation of 5-acetyl-2-methoxyphenyl 4'-acetylphenyl ether and 5-(ß-aminoethyl)-2,3-dimethoxyphenyl 4'-(ß-aminoethyl)-2'-methoxyphenyl ether and sulfur through the stage of formation of the corresponding biscyclophenylthioacetamides which, by Bischler-Napieralski cyclization and reduction of the corresponding bismethiodides, have been converted into the desired compounds. |
